This work was produced on the occasion of the first International Photography Festival of Belo Horizonte (July 2013) to be displayed as a projection on a building’s facade located in the city downtown. Based on that, develops the concept of this video, that simulated a moon, for 28 seconds, similar to the phase of the moon present in the sky in the days of projections.
Observatory is the result of experimentation with the mechanics of a Rolleiflex camera; what appears to be a celestial body, it is actually the register of the loupe of focus, laid over the unpolished glass through witch we can see the image from the equipment. In reality, the image displayed in the video is nothing more than the record of a moonless sky.
