From the projection of slides, three distinct narratives are presented at Apparitions: Control Panel / Documents / Morel / Abadiânia. A control panel controls randomly this sequence. Able to programming manual or automatic slide forward and reward modes, it can also change a retrofitted light, reducing or increasing the intensity.
Each projector is focused on a distinct collection of images. The first is a compilation of technical history images and the construction of the apparatus. The second it’s the artist's personal archive that have a phantasmatic aspect. Finally, what is presented in the third narrative, it’s the documentation of a visit to one of the most important centers based in the spiritualist practice in Brazil.
As a result of a research that has been developed in the last two years, this is a project that investigates concepts related to image; experiments related to the universe of the projected image technical languages; and studies that take into account the dimension of the invisibility, that in this case, has resulted in a deeply conceptual study about the Spiritism. By analyzing these three main points, it’s possible to notice a number of parallelisms. The vocabularies, as well as historical and geographical intersections, appear analogously several times in those fields.
